Community Mediation Skills Certificate
LCMC offers a 6-day community mediation skills course that is accredited by the College of Mediators. The course is delivered by experienced trainers including practising community mediators that are part of LCMC’s London-wide membership.
Completing the course successfully equips the course finisher with the skills that are needed to work as a competent co-mediator and to build a portfolio of community mediation experience that provides a route to becoming an experienced and confident Lead Mediator.
Depending on availability, a series of observations or assignments as a co-mediator by one of LCMC’s community mediation service providers may be provided for successful course finishers, subject to interview.
The Community Mediation Skills course takes place in February each year and, depending on demand, may also take place in September. The standard course fee is £900 per person, but discounts are available for candidates that are supported by community mediation service providers and referring bodies.
Community Mediation Skills – conversion course
LCMC offers a 2-day conversion course for candidates who have completed a recognised accredited course in commercial, family or workplace mediation. Completing the course successfully enables a course finisher to reach the same level of competence as someone who has completed the 6-day Community Mediation Skills course.
LCMC’s conversion course effectively creates a dual (cross-sector) qualified mediator who is well placed to begin developing a portfolio of practical mediation experience.
The standard course fee is £400 per person; but discounts are available for candidates that are supported by community mediation service providers and referring bodies.
LCMC’s conversion course is accredited by the College of Mediators.
Community mediation is not for everyone. Our taster sessions provide an opportunity to decide whether working to become a community mediator is right for you.
Through its London-wide membership, LCMC offers half-day taster sessions that explain how community mediation works and provide opportunities for dialogue with experienced professional community mediators. Attending an LCMC-member taster session helps to decide whether to pursue a training pathway towards becoming a practising community mediator.
The standard fee for a Taster Session is £50 per person; but discounts are available for candidates that are supported by community mediation service providers and referring bodies.
